Overview
We are seeking a full-time Landscape Designer to serve as an in-house expert overseeing the grounds of three distinguished estate properties in Cold Spring, NY; Greenwich Village, NY; and Atlantic Beach, NY, with the longer-term goal of building out a dedicated landscape team across all properties. This role offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with a refined aesthetic sensibility and a passion for crafting sophisticated, minimalistic landscapes inspired by the romantic, nature-infused beauty of a Monet garden. The ideal candidate will blend rustic charm, Japanese minimalism, and a deep connection to the natural environment to create vibrant, harmonious landscapes. The position focuses on transitioning from external landscaping teams to a cohesive in-house operation.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the maintenance, design, and enhancement of landscapes across three estate properties in Cold Spring, NY; Greenwich Village, NY; and Atlantic Beach, NY.

Design and implement minimalistic, high-end landscapes that align with the properties’ aesthetic vision, incorporating regional plant life and artistic elements.

Manage groundskeeping tasks, including planting, pruning, irrigation, and seasonal care, to ensure exceptional quality and presentation.

Lead the transition to a fully in-house landscaping operation, improving efficiency and design consistency.

Collaborate with the property owner to integrate art installations or sculptural elements, ensuring seamless harmony between natural and artistic features.

Supervise contractors and staff, aligning their work with the properties’ aesthetic and functional objectives.

Monitor landscape health, addressing pest control, soil quality, and irrigation using sustainable, environmentally conscious practices.

Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the property owner for landscape enhancements and long-term planning.
Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape architecture, design, or high-end estate landscape management.

Proven expertise in minimalistic landscape design, demonstrated through a portfolio of sophisticated, elegant projects.

Experience with museum landscapes, art-integrated designs, or comparable high-caliber aesthetic environments is highly preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of plant species and horticultural practices suited to the climates of Cold Spring, Greenwich Village, and Atlantic Beach, NY.

Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple properties and competing priorities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with property owners, staff, and contractors.

Valid U.S. work authorization and driver’s license.
