Overview

A private family is seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper for a live-in, year-round position in Southampton. This role involves overseeing daily cleaning, organization, and household operations in a formal, high-standard private residence. The position includes hands-on housekeeping, staff supervision, and serving as a key liaison between the family and the family office, with a strong emphasis on high-end service during seasonal entertaining. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, discreet, and capable of balancing both hands-on cleaning and leadership responsibilities within an established team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily deep cleaning to museum-quality standards (floors, fine surfaces, silver, antiques, art, and décor)
  • Manage all laundry, ironing, stain removal, hand-washing, and wardrobe organization
  • Oversee seasonal wardrobe management and closet organization
  • Maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining areas, and children’s rooms to the highest standards
  • Make beds, change linens, and ensure all spaces remain immaculate and well-organized
  • Assist with light cooking, coffee/tea service, snacks, and meal setup/service as needed
  • Pack and unpack luggage for family travel
  • Greet visitors, manage deliveries, run errands, and handle special requests
  • Order household supplies, pantry inventory, and maintain stock levels
  • Coordinate repairs, vendors, and houseman-related tasks
  • Ensure all staff maintain professionalism, proper appearance, and adherence to household protocols
  • Manage time effectively to prioritize and complete tasks promptly
  • Uphold the family’s privacy, safety, and security protocols at all times
  • Support formal dinners, entertaining, and household events including setup, service, and breakdown.

Position Details: Live-in, year-round role based in Southampton.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience as an Executive Housekeeper or Head Housekeeper in a formal private household
  • Excellent references from prior employers (essential)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Prior supervisory or head housekeeper experience preferred
  • Experience working in a formal home with exceptionally high service standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to museum-quality cleanliness
  • Professional, discreet, proactive, and polished demeanor
  • Team player with a hands-on, can-do attitude
