Overview
We are seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper for the historic estate of a high-profile family in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate is a polished professional who combines excellent communication skills with meticulous attention to detail, discretion, and efficiency.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
Reports to: Estate Manager
Primary Responsibilities
The Executive Housekeeper maintains an exceptionally well-appointed historic estate comprising three structures on 13 manicured acres, and is responsible for all cleaning and laundry for the four-level main house, gate house, and pool house. Duties include:
- Collect laundry daily; sort, spot-treat, and machine- or hand-wash items according to care instructions. Iron or steam, fold or hang, and return all items to their proper locations.
- Make beds daily and change linens as needed. All bed linens must be ironed before use.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors; clean baseboards.
- Dust all furniture, moldings, and light fixtures.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect all bathrooms and powder rooms.
- Keep the kitchen immaculate: wash pots, pans, and dishes; load and unload the dishwasher; and clean the refrigerator and countertops.
- Detail-clean windows and remove fingerprints from walls and glass.
- Care for the professionally designed interior plant arrangements and veranda plantings.
- Polish the family’s extensive silver collection.
- Perform other housekeeping duties as directed by the homeowner.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain a current inventory of cleaning and household supplies, and review needs regularly with the homeowner.
- Promptly notify the Estate Manager of any wear, damage, or maintenance issues (e.g., burned-out light bulbs, leaks, windows that do not seal, cracks in walls or floors).
Minimum Qualifications
- Career Executive Housekeeper with 10+ years of experience caring for fine furnishings and high-end interiors in private residences.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Professional, motivated, courteous, and kind demeanor, with a commitment to being part of a best-in-class team.
- Superior judgment and discretion, particularly regarding confidential matters.
- Exceptional time management, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and anticipate the family’s needs while upholding the highest standards of quality.
- Flexibility to support the family’s needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
