Overview

A private family is seeking an exceptional, experienced full-time nanny/governess (or similarly qualified childcare professional) to support the care and education of a 5-year-old child during a period of international relocation and transition. The position will be based in the UK during term-time, with holidays likely spent in the Bahamas. Accommodation can be provided in both the Bahamas and London.

Responsibilities

The position requires a highly adaptable and emotionally intelligent individual capable of providing stability, discretion, and continuity of care within a dynamic and, at times, unpredictable environment.  The right candidate will be warm, grounded, and highly dependable, with the ability to provide a calm and secure presence.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide warm and consistent care, supporting the child’s emotional wellbeing through a period of significant change

  • Support structured early years education, with a focus on preparing for entry into the British curriculum (Key Stage 1)

  • Establish and maintain a calm, predictable routine to promote security and development

  • Accompany the family on international travel between the Bahamas and London, adapting seamlessly to changing schedules

  • Provide homeschooling support, if appropriate, during time spent in the Bahamas (anticipated minimum of approximately 90 days per year in the initial phase)

  • Act as a trusted and steady presence, fostering a secure and supportive environment

  • Work in close partnership with the parent, contributing insight and judgement to support decisions around the child’s emotional and educational needs

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and flexibility at all times

  • Ideally light household management support to assist with overall organisation and smooth running of the home
  • Creative and healthy cook, able to encourage a healthy relationship with food

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a governess, career nanny, or educational role with young children

  • Strong background in emotionally intelligent care and regulation

  • Solid understanding of, or experience with, the British curriculum (Early Years / Key Stage 1)

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and adapt to a fluid schedule

  • High degree of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence

  • Confident, thoughtful communicator, able to contribute meaningfully to decisions regarding the child’s development and wellbeing

  • Experience in private households with international travel

  • Household management experience

  • Full driving licence, preferably

  • Able to spend majority of time in the Bahamas, with regular trips to the UK
  • Home-schooling experience
  • Very flexible approach – nothing is set in stone, yet, and there is likely to be very regular travel, some weekend work and extended periods spent away from the UK
