Overview

A Private Residence in the West Village seeks an experienced Laundress to care for their fine garments and laundry services within their home. The right candidate must be comfortable managing all sorts of fabrics and must be able to do all laundry in-house. Must be hands-on and support the housekeeping team as needed with the maintenance of the residence. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the full organization of closets, cabinets, wardrobes, etc.
  • Laundress duties; includes laundry, care of fine garments and fabrics
  • Packing/ unpacking for travel as needed
  • Ironing, steaming, pressing linens
  • Pressing dress shirts
  • General sewing, repairing buttons & holes
  • Closet management & archiving by season, color, designer and collection
  • Running errands and carrying out special requests for the family

Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday 8am-6pm

Requirements

  • Excellent references are required from current and previous employers
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in a private home as a laundress or equivalent experience and a similar role
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
