Overview

A private couple seeks an experienced, professional Domestic Couple for a live-in, year-round position at their beautiful Hamptons residence. The principals are in residence 2–4 months per year (primarily in season), with the role requiring full-time presence and management of the property year-round. The ideal couple consists of: An experienced Housekeeper skilled in caring for fine art, antiques, high-end furniture, and delicate fabrics, with exceptional laundry and ironing expertise. A strong House Manager capable of supervising staff, organizing events, coordinating travel, overseeing vendors, managing projects, and maintaining the household to the highest standards. The couple must be formal in service, experienced in hospitality and fine dining environments, and comfortable assisting a chef with dinner parties and events during the season. Experience preparing raw and/or vegan meals is a plus. Additional requirements include a non-smoker status, and the ability to maintain utmost discretion at all times.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Housekeeping: All aspects of general and deep cleaning (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing); museum-quality care of fine art, antiques, and furniture; polishing of brass, silver, china, crystal, and other fine surfaces.
  • Laundry & Wardrobe Care: Full laundry duties, including ironing, steaming, care of delicate fabrics, packing/unpacking for travel, and dry cleaner coordination.
  • Kitchen & Meal Support: Assist the chef with fine dining, recipe testing, and frequent dinner parties/events in season; maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Household Management: Inventory and procure household supplies (including grocery shopping); general organization of closets, pantries, drawers, etc.; greet and provide formal hospitality to principals and guests.
  • Event & Staff Coordination: Assist with special events/parties; coordinate and supervise household staff; set and uphold service standards.
  • Pet Care: Daily care and support for the family dog
  • Administrative Duties: Answer calls, manage mail/packages, run errands, handle special requests.
  • Vendor & Property Oversight: Negotiate, engage, and supervise vendors/contractors (including pool, landscaping, maintenance, construction projects); review and approve invoices.
  • Travel & Vehicle Management: Coordinate travel arrangements with the principals’ personal assistant; oversee operation, maintenance, purchase/sale, and transport of automobiles, boats, paddle boards, canoes, bicycles, etc.
  • Off-Season & Property Supervision: Hire/supervise property caretakers as needed; prepare homes/vehicles for principal visits; create/maintain household manuals.
  • Technology & Security: Manage computers, phone systems, Wi-Fi, A/V equipment, and household security systems.
  • Other: Handle designated projects, manual tasks, and errands as assigned. Level of hands-on involvement (e.g., gardening/cleaning vs. administrative) may vary based on needs.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: 5-day work week with flexible days off; must be adaptable, especially during principal residence periods. Living Accommodations: Private 1-bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining/living area, and private entrance. Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience (high-end Hamptons domestic couple roles typically range depending on expertise and responsibilities).

Bonus: Potential for annual performance bonus.

Benefits: Health insurance negotiable (principal may contribute to your plan).

Vacation: 5 days per year in years 1–2; 10 days per year thereafter.

PTO: 5 days per year (for sick days or personal use).

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–10+ years of experience in fine private residences (high-net-worth homes preferred), ideally as a domestic couple or in similar combined housekeeper/house manager roles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a staff team.
  • Hands-on, proactive attitude with high energy, strong work ethic, and excellent time management/organizational skills.
  • Polished, poised, and professional demeanor with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • US work authorization.
  • Comfortable working with children (if/when present) and pets.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to adapt to principal travel/residence patterns.
  • Strong technology skills a plus (proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially detailed Excel charts/organization).
