Overview

A private family in Upper East Side, NYC, seeks a highly professional, detail-oriented live-out housekeeper with light cooking skills to join their team in an exceptionally formal household. The ideal candidate will have extensive housekeeping experience, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness while working with high-quality furniture and delicate surfaces. The candidate must be discreet, respectful, and comfortable collaborating with other household staff, including a part-time housekeeper, laundress, chef, and house manager. A pleasant, affable, and hardworking personality is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform meticulous cleaning and organization including bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas.

  • Handle delicate and fine furnishings, artwork, marble, hardwood floors, and other high-end surfaces with utmost care, using organic products as needed.

  • Support the laundress with laundry and wardrobe management, including ironing and steaming.

  • Perform light cooking as required, adhering to the family’s preferences.

  • Conduct grocery and supplies shopping and run errands as needed.

  • Collaborate with household staff to ensure seamless daily operations and uphold the family’s standards.

  • Follow the household calendar to stay on task with daily responsibilities.

  • Adhere to the family’s established protocols for household management and cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a high-end, formal household.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and understanding of high-level service and hospitality.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the house manager and principals.

  • Strong command of English; basic computer and device knowledge is a plus.

  • Knowledge of proper care for luxury furnishings, linens, and wardrobe items.

  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality in a private family setting.

  • Valid work authorization.

  • Pleasant, affable, and hardworking personality.

Schedule

  • Days: Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend availability if needed.

  • Hours: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, with flexibility for additional hours or overtime as required.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $40 – $45 per hour.

  • Overtime: Opportunity to earn overtime pay after 40 hours per week.

  • Approximate Yearly Earnings: $90-100,000

  • Benefits: Insurance stipend provided.
